I love fall and winters in the Keys! It’s time for stone crabs and will soon be time for blue crabs!
Did you know that effective October 15, 2019, you need a stone crab trap registration in addition to your saltwater fishing license to catch stone crabs in a trap. Also, effective January 1, 2020, you will need a blue crab trap registration in addition to your saltwater fishing license to catch blue crabs in a trap. These registration numbers must be displayed on your trap.
To get these registration numbers, you can go to gooutdoorsflorida.com and add these to your license. They are free this year. You will be given 5 numbers for stone crabs and 5 numbers for blue crabs.
